Lectures

On the fourth week, we don't have a face to face lecture and we were given task to start doing our digital collage. During our online meeting, Mr. Fauzi explains about the tools in Photoshop that we could use in our digital collage. he also explains about how filters are made and adjustments that could be used like Brightness and contrast, level curves, exposure, offset, gamma, selective colors.

Tutorial

Blending Mode
. Paths. Masking. Layering.
to sumarize from the YouTube link provided by Mr. Fauzi,
1. blending mode consist in many type. you usually you can divide it into two the first one is shading like Multiply, Hard edge, etc. and lighting like  overlay, soft light, add, etc
2. path is a tool that you could use to cut out or create outline of an object.
3. masking is a feature where, when you co clipping mask on an object, if you were to put the object that you want to mask on the main object, it wouldn't got out of the outline and stayed in the shape of the main object
4. layering is a feature in photoshop where you could overlap each object and put it in certain order

Digital Collage 3 Composition

while doing this practice, I explored on what kind of elements that I have. and I found that some elements are blue and green so I just had to use the colors because I already had something in mind. which is underwater city because there's fish

fig.2.1.composition 1 (19/10/24)
on the first composition I focus on implementing the rule of third composition. I used the blue building as a background and remove the white background. duplicate it, reflect it and align the top of the building diagonally with the main building. I tried to use lots of texture for the empty space. and positioned the fish to where the first and second horizontal line of rule of third is.

fig.2.2. composition 2 (19/10/24)
on the second one I used the white building and add the liquid texture to give it more graphic. I positioned the mirrored the fish and positioned his body in the spiral and use the plants to follow the lower part of the lines. its eye are positioned perfectly at the middle of the spiral. for spiral I meant the golden ratio. and I used the grunge texture this time and make the back ground color dark turquoise and overlay it even though im not supposed to do blending mode and effects yet on the week 3 task

fig.2.3. composition 3 (19/10/24)
on the third one, I'm running out of ideas so I just decided to clash some elements that I haven't used             before which is the old projector and the people.  turns out out of all the composition that I have done.         the third composition is the one thats chosen for the final digital collage

Reflections

Experience

during this practice I learned new things in procreate. especially the tools and the location of some effects that I need to use later on. I learned how to select object and cut out the back ground which is the steps that I was confused on at the beginning.

Observations

although while looking at other students work, I got a little insecure because I didn't think of using shapes and manipulating it to the point where it looks like a very modern collage. then I look at my work and it looks more like those old collage.

Findings

I found making digital work especially using photoshop needs a lot of practice and reflection.
